Who wants to be with someone who’s clueless when it comes to sexuality and things sexual? So, in order to be a good and sexy lover and create a more fulfilling sex life, we should be sexually aware and sexually intelligent; we have to know who’s who and what’s what in the world of love, lust and sex! I believe, the good sex life is inspired by love and guided by sexual knowledge :) That is the idea behind my glossary of words and terms relating to sexuality and things sexual! In my previous post, I offered a list of sexual definitions beginning with the letter A. Today let’s check out the letter B sexual definitions! Take a few minutes to look through the list, and keep in mind that some of the definitions are simplified, described briefly and intended for a general audience, and for general information purposes only. Well, I’m sure most of you know most of the words; still, chances are that there are at least a couple of words that are somewhat new for some of you. Increase your sexual vocabulary and impress your sweetie ;)

Sexicon for lovers and others: LETTER B

BDSM: a term for a wide range of distinct subcultures, psychological and physiological facets and sexual activities: bondage and discipline (B&D, B/D, or BD), dominance and submission (D&s, D/s, or Ds), and sadism and masochism (S&M, S/M, or SM). Activities and relationships within BDSM practice are characterized by the fact that the participants usually take unequal roles. Typically, participants who are active (applying the activity or exercising control over others) are known as Tops or Dominants. Those who are recipients of the activities, or who are controlled by their partners, are typically known as Bottoms or Submissives. Those who move between top/dominant roles and bottom/submissive roles (either periodically within a relationship, or from relationship to relationship) are known as S/switches. BDSM practice involves safe, sane, consensual playing. On a physical level, it often involves restraint and intentional infliction of physical pain and other intense sensations.

B&D: Bondage and Discipline are two sexual practices of BDSM. The term “bondage” describes the sexual behavior which involves physical restraint. This is a consensual experience of safe captivity and physical helplessness, often in combination with spanking, whipping and other disciplines. Participants may use restraining devices and bondage toys such as ropes, cords, chains, collars, handcuffs, scarves, ties, suspension kits, cages, etc. The word originates from the Anglo-Latin “bondagium”, which means “to inhabit”. The word entered English prior to the 14 th century referring to the tenure of a serf or slave to his master. B&D is a type of sexual relationship consisting of lightly sadomasochistic scenarios in which a submissive partner is physically restrained and then disciplined, or punished physically or psychologically by a dominant partner. Discipline is almost always symbolic and much lighter than in sadomasochism. Usually, it contains little physical pain or discomfort but relies heavily on verbal abuse, threats, humiliation, and “punishment” to enforce obedience.

BOTTOM: 1) The buttocks, the ass, based on their location at the bottom of the body torso 2) Front-bottom is sometimes used for female genitals. 3) One of many terms used in polarity relationships and activities to indicate the receptive, passive or submissive partner as opposed to the top, active or dominant partner 4) The passive or receptive partner in gay sexual activities; or, vaginal intercourse with a dildo, for lesbians 5) The partner occupying the bottom position in sexual activities 6) A synonym for passivity.

BLINDFOLDS: blindfold sex play is practiced by many lovers in and outside of the BDSM community. The idea of blindfolding during sex is that losing the sense of sight other senses of the wearer and intensifies the excitement. As the wearer can’t see what to expect, it allows focusing on sounds, smells, tastes, sensations and physical contact.

BREATH PLAY: also called asphyxiophilia, autoerotic asphyxia, or breath control play. This is a sexual practice of intentionally restricting your partner’s breathing during sex to intensify sexual pleasure. Colloquially, a person engaging in the activity is sometimes called a “gasper”. NOTE that this practice is dangerous even if performed with care, and has resulted in a significant number of accidental deaths!!

BLOODSPORTS FETISH: within BDSM lifestyle, it is an activity that involves using blood for sexual arousal. Bloodsports (also known as “bloodplay” or blood fetishism) encompasses many scenes such as scratching, cutting, piercing or sometimes whipping to the point of breaking the skin. This adult play is considered a form of edgeplay, in other words, it is highly dangerous and harmful sexual behavior!

BESTIALITY: also known as zoophilia, humans having sex with animals. Zoophilia, from the Greek (zṓion, meaning “animal”) and (philia, meaning “friendship” or “love”). A person who practices sex with animals is known as a zoophile. Also, you can find terms “zoosexual” and “zoosexuality”. Pornographers sometimes use the terms “dogsex” and “farmsex”.

BAREBACKING: a slang term used to describe acts of unprotected sex (i.e. having sexual intercourse without the use of a condom. The origin of the term is by an analogy to riding a horse without a saddle. Before the invention of hormonal contraceptives, this slang term was used to describe heterosexual sexual intercourse without a condom. Since the mid 1980s, the term has become more commonly used to describe unprotected homosexual sex.

BUTCH: possessing traditionally masculine appearance, style, attributes and behaviors. Usually, a lesbian who adopts the masculine role. The opposite of “Femme”. The terms “butch” and “femme” are often used in the lesbian, bisexual and gay subcultures to describe homosexual women, but also occasionally homosexual men. The word “femme” is taken from the French word for woman, although the French word, unlike the English, is pronounced ‘fam’; also spelled “fem”. The word “butch”, meaning “tough kid” gained the sense “male-like lesbian” in the 1940s.

BACKWARDS COWGIRL: a slang term for a woman-on-top sexual position where a woman straddles a man facing his feet, while he is on his back

BEN WA BALLS: or Ben Wah Balls are small balls, usually small weighted and connected by a string. Ben Wa Balls are inserted into vagina or anus for extra sensation and sexual stimulation; also used to exercise vaginal muscles. They come in many types, designs, materials (glass, metal, silicone-coated balls) and names: Duotone Balls, Pleasure Balls, Vibro Balls, Smart Balls, Orgasm Balls, Love Balls, Kegel Balls.

BUTT PLUG: a dildo-shaped sex toy with a flared end, designed to be used for anal or prostate stimulation. Butt plugs come in a variety of colors, materials, shapes, sizes, and textures. There are penis-shaped butt plugs, ribbed butt plugs, vibrating butt plugs, etc. Some butt plugs are designed for men to stimulate the prostate. Some designs include a tail attached to the base of the butt plug.

BUTTERFLY VIBRATOR: a sex toy for women; non-penetrating vibrator featuring a vibrator body in the shape of a butterfly, strapped to the female pubic area with leg- and waist-bands, designed to stimulate the entire vulva and the clit. Butterfly strap-on vibrators can be divided into several main groups: traditional butterfly vibrator, remote control butterfly, butterfly vibrator with anal and/or vaginal stimulators. Not only butterfly vibrators are cute, they are designed for hands-free fun!

BUKKAKE: ejaculating on a woman’s face; very popular in many porn films; also known as “facial”

BEAVER: a vulgar slang term for female pussy

BARTHOLIN’S GLANDS: small glands located on each side of the inner vaginal lips (labia minora), slightly below and to the left and right of the opening of the vagina. When a woman is sexually aroused these glands produce lubrication for the vulva area, just before a woman orgasms.

BONER: a slang term for an erection

BlUE BALLS: a slang term; when a man becomes sexually excited, the testicles become engorged with blood, and if it is not resulted in sexual release, i.e. orgasm and ejaculation, he experiences cramps, pain or swelling in the scrotum or “blue balls”.

BUTTERFLY KISS: a very sensual experience of fluttering eyelashes against another person’s lips or cheeks

BUTTERFLY FLICK: a blowjob technique in which your tongue is flicking lightly along the ridge on the underside of the penis head, give him gentle licks back and forth across the sensitive corona, while wrapping one hand around the shaft.

BLOWJOB: is there anyone out there who has no idea what “blowjob” stands for? ;)
