Sex Dreams: Facts That May Surprise You!

Posted by Nellioness on Sep-22-2009

Nude sexy girl with amazing eyes

I’ve repeatedly mentioned in my other posts that I want my readers to be not only very, very sexy but also very well informed about all things hot and sexual. Guess why? Since it’s sexy to be sexually informed! ;)

So here are some interesting facts about erotic dreams and dreaming that may surprise you, and give “ammunition” for an interesting conversation with someone during your waking hours! I’ve summarized all sex dream facts and tidbits that I’ve found on various web resources, dreaming sites and databases (sexual health news pages, health24.com sexuality pages, dreammoods.com, AOL Personals, etc) Ok, now onto the facts. Enjoy!

As to the origin of the word “dream”, it possibly originates from the Middle English ‘drem’ or ’dreme’, which was obtained from the Old English word “dream” meaning “JOY”, and resembling the Old Saxon word “drom” meaning “MIRTH”. Indeed, many dreams are so fun and enjoyable! Particularly, those hot and sexual ones…

One very interesting fact is that EVERYBODY dreams! So if you do not remember your dream, it does not mean that you did not dream. The reason is that five minutes after the end of the dream, half the content is forgotten! And after ten minutes – ninety percent is lost.

One third of our lives is spent sleeping, and during a typical lifetime we spend over six years dreaming. That is more than 2,100 days spent in a different world! Do you know that we often have 4-7 dreams in one night? Also, I’ve found the fact that dreams are mostly experienced by all humans, majority of mammals and even some birds. Hmm, interesting… do mammals and birds have erotic dreams? ;)

Did you know that while dreaming, men experience erections and women experience increased vaginal blood flow NO MATTER what the content of the dream? And, so called “wet dreams” (nocturnal emissions) may not necessarily coincide with sexual dream content! Also, there is a fact for those men who have wet dreams: wet dreams are part of normal sexual process and not a sign of sexual disorder. So happy wet-dreaming, gentlemen! :)

Now, who has more sexual dreams – men or women? Years ago, studies reported that women dreamt about sex less frequently than men. However, a new study from psychologists at the University of Montreal in Canada showed that women have just as many sex dreams as men! BUT with one difference: men are far more likely to have fantasies about sex with imaginary lovers, while women dream about current or past lovers, as well as celebrities.

According to this study, eight percent of our dreams swirl around sexual situations and involve some kind of sexual activities or objects. 109 women and 64 men were involved in this research and asked to keep a diary of their dreams for as long as four weeks or so. The total number of dreams recorded exceeded 3,500 and 292 included sexual content. The findings were as follows:

The most common sex dream involved sexual intercourse, flirting, kissing, fantasies and masturbation. Four percent of sex dreams among men and women resulted in an orgasm. Eighteen percent of women’s sex dreams involved unwanted sex, compared with just five percent of men. Fantasies about celebrities made up nine percent of sex dreams among women and five percent among men. Men were far more likely to dream about having sex with more than one person. Four percent of women’s dreams featured a partner having an orgasm; none of men reported this dream.

What else is fun and interesting is that people weren’t the only subjects of sexual fantasies… One woman reported being aroused by A GIANT PLANT which she found to be “extremely erotic”!

Well, my sexy dreamers, MAY YOUR DREAMS BE EXTREMELY EROTIC TONIGHT! And if the reason for your arousal is… errrr… A PLANT… relax, enjoy and don’t worry – it’s just a dream! Just wake up and have sex! ;)

Naked sexy woman

As you see I’m very fascinated with this subject of erotic dreaming! So let me discover more about it and share with you all my findings. Now tell me, do you remember a dream where you were as naked as at birth? Personally I had such dream a few years ago. I remember a dream of being completely naked, alone, standing in the middle of the giant lake, smiling and screaming out loud, from deep within my soul, “I’m happy!!!” I remember a beautiful forested area around and myself soaking up the warm sunshine and filling my lungs with the fresh air. It was amazing, unforgettable and the greatest naked dream I’ve ever had! By the way, I had no sex before that dream. So I ask myself why was I so happy? Hm.

As to the meaning behind it. Well, I’m sure in this particular dream my nakedness is a positive omen. I discovered many different meanings behind the content and images of that dream. The meanings vary from “sexual self-confidence and openness”, “feeling comfortable in your own skin” to predicting money luck and happy times ahead. So how happy am I? Indeed, I’m pretty happy! And you, my lovely friends and readers, you are a big part of my happiness!

Okay, in this post, we’re going to find out the meaning behind the nakedness in our dreams because dreams of being stark naked or half-naked are quite common. And many of us mistakenly connect them only with sexuality. In fact, nudity dreams may tell you about a variety of different things not depending to quality of your sex life. The interpretation of such dreams depends not only on how you feel about being naked during your dream and the images, deeds and objects in your dream. It also depends on your particular situation, character, relationship and circumstances in your waking life!

I want to share with you a great article discussing sexuality and nakedness in dreams. The article is short, interesting and easy to read, and written by meaningofdreams.org. The Meaning of Dreams website is very, very interesting and full of nice information on dreaming and dream interpretation. Also, I found there the dream forum, the dream dictionary and fascinating dream diaries! So, if interested, have a look at the website! Now take time to read what comes below to get a better understanding of things going on in your naughty dreams!

Sexuality and nakedness in dreams

As sexual symbols are often present in dreams, it is not impossible that almost all the symbols we encounter could be telling us something about our sex-life. Therefore, it is very important for us to take a look at our attitude to sex and to recognize the need for sexual fulfillment. At the same time, we should also be careful of making too big a deal of the sexual theme in our dreams.

Dreaming of being naked is often mistakenly connected with sex, in a few cases it may be true, but more often the meaning of these dreams are more to do with the dreamer’s reaction to being naked. If people who are regarding your nakedness with shock or repulsion surround you, it could mean that you need to relax more with your partner, or to try to be less self-critical.

There’s also the possibility that your subconscious is using a more blatant dream pun, wanting you to face the ‘naked’ truth about a situation. If you are flaunting your nakedness, taking your clothes off in front of people, you may have a desire to shock people. The dream could also be a reaction to what you feel is a restrictive waking life; perhaps you are bored with the routine conventions of home or office. Keeping a dream diary will reveal certain patterns in your dreams and help you discover further meanings.

Sexual dreams are common in everyone, and if the dream is enjoyable there is no cause for concern. When the sexual content is overly aggressive or distasteful however, the dream may be revealing something about our sexuality that we should note with care. Dreams with disguised sexual content also need careful analysis.

Puns occur frequently in dreams. They can often be very amusing and often result in us waking up laughing. Sara dreamt that she was working in the yard at the side of the house. Suddenly a pipe came away from the roof and drenched her with a gush of water, not at all bothered by being soaked Sara says to herself, ‘Now that’s what I call a wet dream.’ And is sufficiently amused by the little joke that she wakes up giggling. Water gushing from a faucet or tap is often regarded as a symbol of ejaculation, the sexual act. Sara’s wetting may have been more than just the obvious pun that it seemed to be; it could be a signal for something important about her sexuality. The pipe ‘came away’ from its normal position, perhaps indicating something wrong with her sex-life. She may have felt that her desires to be more sexually assertive or ‘masculine’ were out of place.

I hope you’ve found the above information useful in some way. Well, my cat-like curiosity led me to do even more “research” on the subject of bare-assed dreams and here is what else I’ve found on the web resources and dictionaries. Freud believed that naked dreams are connected with self-image of a dreamer. For example, if you are feeling comfortable about being naked in public (in your dream, of course :) this dream can suggest that you are free and confident generally or in a specific situation in your real daily life. If you see yourself completely naked and don’t feel comfortable and want to cover up, this may be an indicator of your vulnerability to a particular situation in your waking life. To see a naked back in your dream, symbolizes secrets that you may have kept from others or aspects of yourself that you have kept hidden and shielded away. Being all naked in your dream can also represent your child-like innocence or total honesty. And of course showing off your nudity could be a desire for sex.

All in all, no expert or dictionary can reveal the personal nature of your own dreams. So enjoy your erotic and naked “adventures” and take them easy! And remember “dreams pay as much attention to you as you pay to them” ;)

I want you to have a dream tonight where you find yourself in your ‘birthday suit’ screaming from a roof top how wonderful your life is and how really ssssssexy and happy you are! :)

Sex and dream jokes and anecdotes

Three wet dreams

Three guys had to spend the night at a hotel and share a double bed. When they woke up the guy on the right side said “Man, I had an awesome dream last night. I dreamt I had sex with the most beautiful woman in the world! I was so intense, so I had a hard-on when I woke up!” The guy who slept on the left side exclaimed “Are you serious? I had almost the same dream! Except I had sex with Ms. Universe! It was so real, so I had a hard-on when I woke up too!” The two guys asked the guy who slept in the middle, “So, did you have any wet dreams last night?” He responded, ” Nah, I just dreamt I was skiing.”

Sex dream

There were three co-workers – Brian, Katie, and Ben. For the last couple of days Brian had seen Katie and Ben hanging out together. So Brian pulls Katie aside one day and says “I’ve seen you and Ben together a lot lately…is there something going on?” “No,” she replies but keeps smiling real big. “What are you smiling about” he says, and leans towards her. “Nothing much, but last night I had a sex dream about a co-worker…” she still smiles. Brian a little puzzled asks “Who Ben?” “No,” she whispers “You.” Brian smiles and says “Yeah, well then I guess we’re even cause I had a sex dream too…” and he leans in real close to her. She smiles REAL big now and leans in ready to kiss him, “Was it about me?” Brian wraps his arms around her and whispers in her ear, “No, it was about Ben.”

One man and his sex dream

A distraught man goes to see a psychologist. “How may I help you?” the doctor asks. “Doc, every night, I have the same dream. I’m lying in bed and a dozen women walk in and try to rip my clothes off and have wild sex with me!” “And then what do you do?” the shrink asks. “I push them away!” the man says. “Then what do you want me to do?” the shrink asks. “Break my arms!!”

And a funny video for dessert! Kristen Schaal had a steamy sex dream where George Washington was making love to her, lol ;)

Sex in Dreams: What Does Science Say!

Posted by Nellioness on Sep-17-2009

Naked beautiful sleeping girl

Well hello there my sexy ladies and gents ;) How are you doing today? How was your night huh? Any dreams? ;) I personally stayed up way too late last night surfing the internet and reading web stuff and catching up on the latest going ons, and went to bed too tired. So I had a deep sleep that did not allow me to have a dream. At least I don’t remember it now. Ahhh… I would be lucky to have a few sex dreams a week!…

While we’re on the topic of sex in dreams, I’ve got a short article for you. Well, it’s with a ‘scientific’ flavor. Okay, I know, I know that reading scientific posts is not so sexy; still it may be interesting for some of you. So the article is from ScienceDaily.com. It includes a scientific research about men’s and women’s sexual dreams. An abstract of this research was presented June 14 at Sleep 2007, the 21st Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies. Take a few minutes to read this, since I want you to stay not only sexy but also informed ;)

In a detailed study that served to investigate the actual nature and content of sexual dreams across a large sample of dream reports from men and women, approximately eight percent of everyday dream reports from both genders contain some form of sexual-related activity.

The percentage of women that reported such dreams can be due to the fact that either women actually experience more sexual dreams now than they did 40 years ago, or that they now feel more comfortable reporting such dreams due to changing social roles and attitudes, or both, according to new research.

The study, authored by Antonio Zadra, PhD, of the Universite de Montreal, focused on over 3,500 home dream reports collected from men and women. Sexual intercourse was the most common type of sexual dream content, followed by sexual propositions, kissing, fantasies and masturbation.

The study found that both men and women reported experiencing an orgasm in about four percent of their sexual dreams. Orgasms were described as being experienced by another dream character in four percent of the women’s sexual dreams, but in none of the male dream reports. Current or past partners were identified in 20 percent of women’s sexual dreams, compared to 14 percent for men, and public figures were twice as likely to be the object of women’s sexual dream content. Multiple sex partners were reported twice as frequently in men’s sexual dreams.

“Observed gender differences may be indicative of different waking needs, experiences, desires and attitudes with respect to sexuality,” said Zadra. “This is consistent with the continuity hypothesis of dreaming which postulates that the content of everyday dreams reflects the dreamer’s waking states and concerns – that is, that dream and waking thought contents are continuous.”

It’s well known that the desire for sex is one of the most powerful of all human emotions, and sex drive is one of the most powerful of all human drives, and sex is one the most enjoyable experiences of human life! So it’s not a big surprise that so many night-time dreams are full of erotic content or some kind of sexual action. I think erotic dreaming is a very interesting and intriguing part of our lives! Personally, I wish I could have sex dreams much more often! :)

“Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives” (William Dement, a pioneering US sleep researcher, and founder of the world’s first sleep laboratory, at Stanford University)

So I wish you to have insanely hot dreams full of sweet and naughty rumpy-pumpy sex every night! :))) Hope all is well for everyone! See you soon with more info on sexual dreaming!

Peacefully sleeping guy

I don’t have sexual dreams regularly, but I do have them sometimes. So, I had a vivid sexual dream last night. I was having sex with my ex boyfriend. I haven’t thought of him since we broke up a year ago! I found myself sitting on his bed touching on his swollen penis and heavy balls. I remember I kissed him all over and breathed in the scent of his body. The dream left me panting and experiencing familiar spasms in my pussy, and confused and… admitting to myself I missed him. It was the best sex dream I’ve ever had…

Intriguing and shocking, full of eroticism and passion, bizarre and downright dirty, sexual dreams are the greatest dreams ever, and both men and women of all age do have them every now and then! So if you’ve ever woken up from a dream that left you all wet and aroused, it’s okay, you’re not alone :)

Nighttime erotic dreams… Why we have them? What they mean? Why do some sexual dreams end with a real orgasm? And how to enjoy them more often?

Why we have them

Our dreams are ‘messages’ from our subconscious minds. In our dreams we can do things we never do in our waking life. In fact, nighttime erotic visions can bring to light our hidden passions, worries or deep desires about sex. Sometimes we have sexual dreams to ‘compensate’ for what is lacking in real sex life. Sex dreams do not occur regularly. Usually, dreams of sexual nature occur at particular times when you have a hormone peak or need a release from sexual tension. For example, some of my female friends told me they started having sexual dreams during pregnancy!

Do they mean anything?

Like interpreting regular dreams, decoding erotic dreams is tricky. So, if your nighttime sex dreams are not regular and disturbing – just enjoy them and don’t take too seriously. However, sometimes sex dreams might mean something. And, making you dream, your subconscious mind may be trying to tell you something that should not be ignored. For example, if a dreamer is having sex with a stranger in her/his dream, this doesn’t mean he/she really wants to make love with a stranger. This erotic dream may be suggesting that a dreamer is looking for something new to be introduced into her/his life and relationship. Moreover, erotic dreams don’t necessarily mean something is going ‘wrong’ in your real sex life or a relationship. Sometimes, sexual dreams have a deeper meaning and tell something about things NOT depending to sex, such as a dreamer’s unresolved situations, relationships, self-esteem, personal worries, fears, life attitudes, and even illnesses. Of course, there are no a general formula or exact interpretations that will hold true for every dreamer. So, if you want to figure out what your sex dream means, the only thing you can do is thinking SYMBOLICALLY about the situations, images or people from your dream.

And the BEST thing you can do when it comes to erotic dreams – simply ENJOY them and turn SOME of them to reality! ;) As to my dream mentioned above… well, I guess it could be interpreted somehow. Must admit, I don’t want to interpret it, I just want to turn it to reality a.s.a.p. ;)

Why do some sexual dreams end with a real orgasm

It’s never happened to me personally but I remember some dreams taking me to the brink of orgasm. I always wake up when I “almost there” and then, half-awake, I quickly lead myself to that “happy ending”.…

Sometimes sexual dreams can lead some men and women to a real ORGASM. It happens so because physiologically an intense sex dream might cause the same reactions in the dreamer’s body as a ‘real’ sex: increased blood flow, sweating, deep breathing, muscles contraction. However, reaching orgasms in nighttime dreams is more common for men (‘wet’ dreams). As to women, we can get very excited during a dream and wake up very, very aroused ;)

Common themes in sex dreams
Believe it or not, there are common scenarios in men’s and women’s erotic dreams. Most common involve:

~ Sex with a current partner
~ Sex with ex partner
~ Sex with unknown partner
~ Sex with a person of the same gender
~ Sex with a ‘faceless’ lover (the lover’s face cannot be seen during the dream or his/her face is in the shadows)
~ Sex with your best friend (or with your lover’s best friend)
~ Sex with a celebrity (more often these are movie stars, actors/actresses, politicians)
~ Sex with multiple partners
~ Masturbation (self-stroking)

Women’s erotic dreams tend to be more about current or past sexual partners. Celebrity dreams are quite common among women than men. Also, our dreams may very often involve a ‘faceless’ lover. A woman usually enjoys the encounter but doesn’t know who she has just been with. Men’s dreams tend to be about the encounters with multiple partners, sex in unusual places and masturbation.

What to do to enjoy sex-related dreams more often

If you want to have erotic dreams more often or ‘generate’ your first sex dream, you may try to do the following things (while in bed, and right before sleep):

~ Wear something very erotic in bed, whether you’re alone in bed or not
~ Read a sex story or some sexy passages from your favorite book (to spark your erotic imagination, you may read someone’s sexual fantasies and bedtime stories, for example)
~ Watch an erotic video or a porn movie
~ Masturbate, tease yourself, not enough to orgasm but enough to get those juices flowing
~ Play with a sex toy

There is a joke about one man and his sex dream. A distraught man goes to see a psychologist. ‘How may I help you?’ the doctor asks. ‘Doc, every night, I have the same dream. I’m lying in bed and a dozen women walk in and try to rip my clothes off and have wild sex with me!’ ‘And then what do you do?’ the shrink asks. ‘I push them away!’ the man says. ‘Then what do you want me to do?’ the shrink asks. ‘Break my arms!!’

Well, my lovely sex dreamers, have nights full of naughty sex dreams, let yourself do things that would be totally shocking in real life, enjoy and don’t take them too seriously! And… don’t push away a dozen women or men trying to have wild sex with you. Who knows, you might like it ;)))
