Woman About Sex

A Woman's Perspective On Things Sensual And Sexual…

Adult Halloween 2008 is just around the corner! What are your plans for the holiday? Would you like a drop of blood? ;)

In the spirit of the Halloweeny sexy, bloody, spooky time, we’re going to talk about frightening but at the same time interesting thing: SEX AND BLOOD.

What does BLOOD have to do with SEX? Read on. Not for the faint of heart…

Playing with blood is a sexual fetish for blood, also known as vampire fetish, hematolagnia and haematophilia. Blood is loaded with symbolism and most people associate blood with bad and frightening things, however, for a small minority of people human blood and sexual pleasure go together. For blood fetishists, looking at blood, blood smelling, licking and tasting, or bloodletting (usually through biting or cutting) act as a turn-on, as an expression of intimacy, lust, emotional and spiritual connection and bonding. Impressive, right?

Blood fetishism comes in many forms. Within the BDSM lifestyle the acts of using blood for sexual arousal are known as bloodsports or bloodplay, and considered a form of “edgeplay” – sexual play involving the risk of serious harm or even death (breathplay and gunplay, for example) and increased risk of spreading HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Bloodsports or Bloodplay are general names for any sadomasochistic play involving blood.

Blood fetishism and bloodsports encompass many scenes such as scratching, cutting, piercing, blood letting, blood drinking, licking and tasting.

Blood fetishes are considered very dangerous, due to the high risk of diseases transmission, the possibility of serious injuries and scarring factor. Playing with blood requires a much wider array of safety precautions than typical sex. For “bloodthirsty” girls and boys, a relatively safe and easy way to satisfy the sexual curiosity for blood, is having sex during menstrual period. Some men and women are attracted to menstrual blood and desire their female partner the most when she’s menstruating. It may also be considered a form of blood fetishism and may be known as red wings or menstruation blood fetish. Personally, during my “red days” I am not in the mood for sex, and I feel that bleeding pussy and tampons is something to keep hidden from a man. However, I know women who experience an increased sex drive during their menstrual period (as a result of hormonal changes) and want to have sex. One more form of blood fetishism is “cherry popping”, or breaking the hymen in hopes for a bit of blood to flow.

Sex has always been surrounded by taboos, and I think that this is a “forbidden” factor that gave rise to unusual fetishes. The exploration of the taboo desires, if it is safe and mutual, can be fun and enjoyable; and there is nothing “wrong” about acting out a sexual fantasy that one or the other had long dreamed. But it is wrong and not so fun when the sexual curiosity and exploration comes to extremes.

People can turn anything into a fetish. But is blood a thing to play with? I don’t think so. But it’s my humble opinion. For me, blood doesn’t carry the meaning of sexual object or attraction, it carries the meaning of the essence of life.

Halloween approaches! Beware, as darkness falls on Halloween night, some bad guys are out for blood … ;)

  1. Rolando Said,

ah man I don’t play like that. i like my blood where it is. :)

  2. Ricardo Said,

The blood fetish is more prominent than we think. Look at how it’s played up in vampire films and TV shows which all feature the union of blood biting and sensuality. Have you seen the show True Blood on HBO? That is a perfect example. However what you talk about here as far as blood play goes is something that is very taboo hence why people may do it. I must agree with you, it’s not my thing wither nor is it safe. It works well on Vampire flicks but I draw the line there. It’s just a movie or show.

I can net do the whole red wings thing. I have had some women and girlfriends get mad at me for not liking it. But really I want to be covered in kisses and maybe some vaginal wetness but not blood.

  3. Nellioness Said,

Rolando, totally agree with you! Good sex makes my blood “boil”, and I want it stay there in my veins ;)

  4. Nellioness Said,

Ricardo, thank you for all the comments! Good to ’see’ you again!

Well, I agree that the blood fetishism is more prominent than we think. Unfortunately. As for me, I’m not a viewer of “bloody” videos, and not a fan of vampire trend in entertainment and sex life.

Sex during “bloody days” is not for everyone. And not for me. It’s uncomfortable, messy, and not sexy. Even if you do it inside the bathroom with running water, or in bed with a bad sheet on top of good sheets.

And whatever one might say, it’s always the woman who has to wash all sheets ;))

  5. Ricardo Said,

I would set things up in a way that she would have to wash them. Yes. I come clean. No pun intended.
